This event is part of the HiRSE Seminar Series, a series of online talks on topics relevant to research software engineering and research software engineers.
Abstract
As research software becomes increasingly recognized as a first-class scientific output, ensuring its quality, sustainability, and reusability remains a critical challenge across disciplines. The EVERSE (European Virtual Institute for Research Software Excellence) project aims to drive a cultural shift by establishing a collaborative, community-driven framework for research software quality. This presentation introduces the EVERSE tool ecosystem, designed to share knowledge and help communities practically assess and enhance their research software.
The seminar will showcase a suite of integrated, open-source services developed to bridge the gap between quality theory and technical implementation:
- RSQkit (Research Software Quality Kit), a knowledge base gathering community-curated best practices, guidelines, and training resources
- EVERSE TechRadar, a visual dashboard and catalogue of curated tools and services that support implementation of software quality standards across domains
- Quality Pipelines, reusable automated CI/CD workflows for integrating quality assurance into the research software development lifecycle
- DashVERSE, a role-based dashboard prototype for visualizing quality assessments and compliance metrics for stakeholders such as RSEs, principal investigators, and policy makers
